PIA Priorities Included in Year End Funding Package
WASHINGTON – Congress this week will consider a federal funding package to fund the federal government for the remainder of the fiscal year that includes three policy priorities of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA National).
The federal funding package will be voted on this week in the House and Senate.
“I am pleased that we were able to secure three of our top policy priorities in H.R. 1865 – a nine month extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), a seven year reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) program, and the repeal of the Cadillac Tax on employer sponsored health coverage,” said PIA National Vice President of Government Relations Jon Gentile.
“PIA National advocated strongly for the inclusion of these three measures in the funding package,” Gentile added. “These measures are critical for the stability of the flood insurance market, for ensuring terrorism does not destroy our economy, and protecting the employer sponsored health market. PIA National thanks Congressional leadership for hearing the voices of independent insurance agents throughout this process, and we urge the House and Senate to pass the measure as soon as possible.”
Founded in 1931, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees who sell and service all kinds of insurance, but specialize in coverage of automobiles, homes and businesses. PIA members are Local Agents Serving Main Street America SM. PIA’s web address is www.pianet.com.
