Committees

Examine PIA benefits and generate ideas for new benefits that will increase the value of membership for agents. This committee is open to agents only. 

The Convention Committee plans, organizes and evaluates PIA's annual "Engage" convention.  This includes recommending dates and locations to the Board of Directors and planning the entertainment, educational programs, social events, etc.  

This committee also plans PIA's popular Winter Get-Away gathering in Minocqua and the activities that span three days.

Addresses the current education needs of independent agencies and recommends topics for new seminars and webinars. Selects the "Outstanding CSR of the Year" award winner. Members share experiences from CIC, CISR, CPIA and PIAW Webinar events to help improve the quality of the programs. CIC designees select the topics for our Ruble Graduate Seminars. 

The Legislative Committee monitors and reports to the membership any legislative or regulatory actions on the state or national level which could have an impact on independent agents. They also advise the Board on public policy matters. 

The committee is led by an appointed chairperson in conjunction with the elected National Director. Only agent members may be a part of the Legislative Committee.

The Scholarship Golf Outing Committee organizes PIA's annual golf outing that funds $25,000 in annual scholarships for college students in majors relevant to the insurance industry. The committee also evaluates scholarship applications and awards scholarship funds.

The Clay Shoot Committee organizes PIA's annual sporting clays fundraiser, which raises money for the PIA political action committee.  The funds raised by this committee protect the insurance industry by supporting candidates for public office who support PIA members, small business owners, and the overall IA channel.

The Young Professionals Insurance Network is a committee responsible for both engaging young professionals in the industry and drawing young people to the industry, with a series of new events, activities, and outreach.

The Nominations Committee is tasked with recruiting potential new directors for the PIAW Board and recommends a slate of nominees to the membership at the Annual Meeting.
